Christmas Wish List

In an effort to "help" my husband with his Christmas shopping this year, I've complied a short list of things I would love to see under the tree!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I am on project overload this week! I have about a million things on my list and I'm trying to get them all done by Thursday (yeah, I'm dreaming!) I just really want to enjoy my holiday season without all these little things looming over my head. So...Grammy came to the rescue today! She is great at all things domestic and at entertaining Leyton while I knocked a few things off my list. We put out some Christmas decor and hung new red cotton/velvet curtains in the family room. I love how cozy they make the room feel. I would post photos but I can't find my camera battery charger :(

I really hate how little time I've had to devote to this blog. I don't keep a journal so this is really the only way I'll be able to remember what we've done during these busy months as new parents. So feel free to skip over the boring details of our weekend :)

This weekend was an eventful one! Friday night Scott and I went out alone for the first time since Leyton was born. Grammy and Grandpa kept him while we saw Secretariat. Good movie! Saturday Scott took Leyton out to run a few errands while I finished painting the kitchen. I did get a lot done but I also snuck in a 45 minute nap :) Sunday morning we met up with Scott's family who is in town and his grandparents hosted brunch for everyone. Then we spent some time at my in-laws before I went to my friend Kacy's baby shower. She is having a little baby girl in January! Seeing all of her baby girl gifts made me excited for (hopefully) having a girl someday. We are ALWAYS buying clothes for Leyton (partially because he grows so quickly) but can you even imagine the trouble we'll be in with some many cute girl clothes to choose from!

Happy Thanksgiving week!

Family Photo Session Sneak Peek

Today we had a fabulous photo session with the talented Allison Davis! The weather was perfect. The light was perfect. And for the most part Leyton was a pretty good little subject. I am super excited to have these "official" photos of our new family of three. Here is a sneak peek that Allison posted today...

Can't wait to see more! Thank you Allison!

A change is coming...

I think a big change is in order for our kitchen. We have not done anything to it since we moved in last year and I think its time...

I'm thinking mocha colored walls, rubbed bronze knobs and pulls, a big framed black chalkboard for the wall beside the dining room door and stripes painted below the chair rail in the breakfast area. We used Ralph Lauren candlelight faux finish in our dining room and I'd like to use that to make a subtle vertical stripe. It is time for this army green kitchen to go!

Future fireman?

A few weekends ago my college roommate, Lauren, and her husband invited us to a bonfire on their family property. It is always good to see these two so of course we went! We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and roasted marsh mellows. Yum! This was L's first time to see fire and I want to share these photos because they make me laugh...

New furniture

I just ordered this lovely piece to go in our formal living room. I am a little obsessed with this motif so when I found this sideboard I knew I HAD to have it. It won't arrive until mid December which is kind of a bum but I love it enough to wait. Now I just need a gorgeous mirror(s) and beautiful laps to adorn it and we will be in business!

I know I am so behind on blogging about the happenings of the last few weeks - my PawPaw's party, a bonfire with friends, pumpkin patch visit, Halloween and a few projects I've been working on. I've been a little uninspired to write lately but I've collected my thoughts and I'm ready to post - when L takes a long enough nap :) Stay tuned...
