Leyton {9 & 10 months}

Leyton at 10 months is so engaged, so happy, and SO much a boy! And a big one at that. At our 9 month appointment he was 27.5 lbs and 31 3/4 inches. This momma has some very strong arms!

He's still crawling but can stand unassisted and can even bend to pick up things and stand back up without losing his balance. We have a feeling his first steps are in the VERY near future. He's been working on cutting his top teeth for awhile now but they have not yet broken through. He can drink out of a straw and still loves to feed himself. Yogurt just might be his favorite food as I cannot feed it to him fast enough. He's wearing size 18-24 months in clothes and we've retired all of his onesies :( He looks and acts like a big boy so we try to dress him as such. He loves bath time and showers too!

He just love him to death! I think we have a very confident little boy. He loves to explore and has no fear of strangers. In fact, he loves anyone who talks and smiles at him. He's very good at imitating sounds or motions we make and we swear he said "doggie" the other night :) He laughs A LOT. He'll stare at seemingly nothing and just giggle. Here's our big boy at 9 and 10 months...

Leyton {7 & 8 months}

I am SO behind on blogging about Leyton's month-to-month growth. Makes me sad that have no time to keep up and its getting harder and harder to remember the things he's doing! I started this post when he turned 7 months...

 Leyton has had a few big milestones this month!

First, he cut two bottom teeth on Sunday the 6th. They are just poking through but they're there! Teething hasn't seemed to bother him too badly but we keep Baby Orajel close at hand. He has had a runny nose and cough related to teething and that is definitely no fun.

Second, he is sleeping in his own bed now! This is more of a milestone for me than for him I think. Prior to now I have just not been ready for him to be SO far away. He cried for about 30 min the first night and each night since has been better. We bought a video monitor so that helps me out too.

And that was as far as I got. The sleeping in his own bed thing lasted all of three days before I realized that was not what I wanted and I was letting other people pressure me into changing my parenting habits because of their own beliefs. He is now back in our bed where he belongs :)

So back to what L is doing these days (8 1/2 months)...crawling! Everyone and anywhere! He has been mobile since 7 months but really started crawling forward on his hands and knees March 13th. He also pulled himself up to standing for the first time in early February but he is doing that a lot more now. He usually takes 3 naps a day - mid morning, early afternoon, and early evening. He is eating a variety of solid foods and he just tried cheese and YoBaby yogurts for the first time this week. He LOVES to feed himself too!

He is very friendly to strangers and will smile at just about anyone who talks to him. We constantly get comments on how easy going and happy he is. He is very persistent and so chatty too!

He is so smitten with the dogs/cats. He squeals in delight whenever he sees them. Dixie is the most fond of Leyton. She loves to lick his feet when he's sitting in the high chair and she doesn't mind him crawling all over her when she's laying on the floor. I am so happy that he will grow up without a fear of dogs. Hopefully he will develop the same love and respect for animals that his parents have.

Oh, and I can't forget to mention that he weighs 25 lbs too.

Snowed In...

We are on Day 2 of being snowed in...or should I say "iced in". The street in front of our house is one big sheet of ice. I don't plan on getting out anytime soon. So what do we do when were stuck inside on this frigid day?

Photo shoot of course! How awesome is my new camera? Its the Canon T2i incase you're wondering. I would highly recommend this model if you're in the market for a DSLR.

Leyton {6 months}

Well, my blogging has really sucked this month. I'll skip the excuses and just get to it...

Leyton turned 6 months old this month! I say this every month but seriously, WHERE does the time go? It is so unfair how quickly these sweet baby days pass by. He is looking so much more like a big boy and less and less like my precious baby. I keep a stack of photos taken in his first month on my nightstand that I thumb through a few times a week. Those early days were so sweet...
{July 23, 2010 - 16 days old}
But now...
{Christmas Day 2010 - 5 1/2 months}
Ok he's still sweet.

Leyton at 6 months:
  • 23.5 lbs
  • 30 inches long
  • Wears size 12-18 months in clothes
  • 99 percentile in height and weight
  • Still breastfed
  • Eats rice or oatmeal cereal
  • Has tried carrots, apples, peas, pears, and bananas
  • Likes carrots, apples, and bananas
  • Sits up without support (since before Christmas)
  • Loves the dogs (especially Dixie) and reaches out to pet them
  • Has pulled himself up from sitting to standing twice
  • Loves to play "rough" with Dad (riding on his shoulders, swinging around, hanging upside down)
This week he has really been making an effort to crawl and I think in another week or two he'll be on the move! We might have to invest in a second Pack 'N Play to keep upstairs! Even though I miss those early baby days, the stage he is in now is really fun. He definitely knows who his Momma is and I love that! He reaches out for me and cries sometimes when I leave the room. He also gets excited when he sees me. So sweet! Here is Leyton lately...

3 Months

Leyton turned 3 months old October 7th. This post is a little late but like I said, I have a 3 month old. Three months has gone by so quickly and he is changing everyday. Here are a few things about Leyton at 3 months...
  • He weighs 19+ pounds and is 27 inches. (95th percentile for height and weight!)
  • He wears mostly size 12 month clothes.
  • He is teething and drooling A LOT!
  • He is starting to grab things and hold onto them more.
  • He rides in the toddler seat of his stroller now and loves it!
  • He is still breast feeding (and obviously not missing any meals)
  • He has discovered his voice and "sings" himself to sleep.
Leyton is overall a really happy baby and we love being his parents. He is so sweet and snuggly! Part of me can't wait to have another baby and part of me wishes to have 5 years just to spend with him. It is hard to imagine sharing my time with anything else. I wish he could stay a baby forever but I know that is just not how life works! Here is Leyton this past month...
